My name is Gustavo Braga and I'm the founder of Phonology.net. I am a native speaker of Portuguese, a language that shares some 90% of its lexicon with Spanish. I am also a phonetics and phonology aficionado, working as an accent coach as well as a language teacher.
With the exception of college, I have lived all my life in Latin America, more specifically in Brazil. I hold a bachelor's degree from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, which I completed in half the usual time – a record in the department. I am a gold medalist in the Brazilian Linguistics Olympiad, in the International Physics Olympiad and in the International Jr. Science Olympiad, as well as a bronze medalist in the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.
I was also admitted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford, and I have tutored and advised students who gained admission to all of those colleges and to other top universities both in the U.S. and abroad. Some of my former students even went on to start profitable businesses, including what is today a multibillion dollar credit card company, Brex.
